The film opens on a diner in Springwood. It isn't long until you get your first look at Freddy Krueger and what he can do in this film. You also get your first stint of paranoia as Dean, the man encountering Freddy at that time has a chance to explain everything to his girlfriend, Kris. He tells her that someone in his dreams is trying to kill him and she watches him die right before her eyes.

Soon the panic sets in among the groups, and there are so many theories about what actually happened that it becomes difficult to see who is being affected by Dean's death. Soon, everyone who is having separate conversations with each other realize that the same man is haunting their dreams, Freddy Krueger.

Now the body count is rising and more and more about Krueger is coming to light. While their dreams were terrifying, they managed to give each of them pieces of the puzzle towards stopping Freddy. Nancy learns that she can pull things out of her dreams, and this spawns a showdown with the madman back where her nightmare began as a small child.

The re-imagining had some familiar scenes, which made it parallel the original very nicely. It was much better in terms of computer generated effects, unlike what could have been produced back in 1984. Jackie Earle Haley, who has been featured in many films including the popular comic inspired film "The Watchmen" portrays the wicked Freddy Krueger, and giving the character a new spin and a terrifying new face in the process.
