Watch The Movie Daybreakers

By Floyd Middleton

It is not hard to see that vampire media is something that is in full swing. There are new television shows coming out all the time headlining vampire relationships or existing with vampires. They are everywhere you turn around, and people have tried to go above and beyond to make their versions and stories unique from anything that you might have heard or seen before. Such is the case with "Daybreakers".

There is something to be said about a tale that can be true to vampire form, but present a story that is unlike anything that audiences have experienced before. When you are reading through this article, you are going to get a breakdown of what makes this movie unique as well as a detailed plot synopsis to help you understand the film.

You should learn what makes this particular film unique in its own right first before it breaks into any plot synopsis. The reason this film is unique, is that it takes a perspective of humans being the minority in a world that has been overtaken by vampires. When vampires bite humans and they don't die, they become vampires as well. Several years of doing this has made the human race as we know it relatively extinct.

This synopsis might contain spoilers for those that have not seen the film, so beware of this if you are trying to find a very non-descript synopsis, this is not it. The film itself opens on the knowledge that the world is 95 percent vampire. With this knowledge, a team of people have been placed together to develop synthetic blood to sustain the population, as humans are becoming scarce.

Ethan Hawke portrays Edward Dalton, who is one of the scientists that is desperately trying to create a synthetic blood supply. He never wanted to be a vampire, and rather is disgusted by many of the behaviors and mannerisms common to them. He is told that if he cannot devise a suitable solution by the end of the month, the entire vampire race could suffer untimely deaths.

A chance meeting with a group of humans has left Dalton in an awkward position. For helping the humans, he could end up in quite a good bit of trouble. Willem DaFoe portrays one of the humans, that you later learn used to be a vampire. He is technically the leader of the group and he retells the events of how he managed to turn human again from having been a vampire.

Edward Dalton is so intrigued by this possibility that he attempts it several times on himself, which eventually works. The process involves exposing the vampire to direct sunlight for a short period of time. This is enough to get the blood pumping again and the heart beating. Now, the vampire is a human once more.

Charles Bromley leads the corporation that Dalton works for and is displeased with what has happened to Dalton. Vampires that have returned to being humans have a new kind of blood that will turn other vampires that drink it back to being human themselves. This is the catalyst to turning the world back to being human again. - 40732
