Useful Tips To Manage Your AV Cables

By Adriana Noton

AV cables ensure that one can get the desired performance from a system. Therefore, it is important to manage the cables properly. The performance of the system is greatly affected by cables which are not handled properly. To avoid this, use simple techniques and tips to take good care of your cables.

There are several things you need to do in order to help you use your cables optimally. This is regardless of where and how you choose to use the cables. Excellent cables will help your electrical equipments function well.

One of the major things to remember is to separate connecting cables from power cables in order to minimize the magnetic field interaction. A considerable distance is essential. This reduces cases of interference from your electrical equipments.

Shorter cables will certainly cost less and are easier to manage. But if the connection from the equipment to the wall is at a distance, it is advisable to use long ones. This is in order to avoid stretching too tightly. A long cable allows one to run the cables round corners and other obstacles comfortably.

The plastic coating around cables acts as a shield to the conducting element inside it. Excellent insulation will enhance the optimal performance of the cable and the whole system. Protect the insulation by good handling to avoid abrasions on the coating or breakages. Damaged cables should be replaced immediately.

Use such accessories as wire clips or connection piping to bundle together cables together and well secured in place. Clamp the cables with plastic strands specifically designed for this purpose keeping them neat with a knot after every three to four feet. Use clips of appropriate sizes to reduce the risk of deforming the cables when trying to fit them in the clamp. If using connection piping, ensure that they are wide enough to accommodate the bundle. You can also paint the piping to match your decor.

Cables are run round the room to the various equipments through various suitable spaces. In such a case, it is important to consider the size of the wire or the bundle. This will ensure that the cables fit well in the space available reducing the possibility of damage. Wires should be run around corners in smooth curves and sharp corners should be avoided.

Clear marking of the cables is important to ensure that you connect the right components correctly. Wrong connection can easily result into component damage or even eventful cases as a result of power shots. Where a length of cable has remained unsecured, it should be folded into an S shape and never in loops. The S shape or figure eight ensures minimal interference of magnetic fields around such cables.

Cabinet spaces and other locked spaces provide ample space for stationing of system components. In order to connect these components with minimal distraction to the lock system, drilling through their walls work well. Carefully drilled holes offer good passage ways for AV cables through to the component inside. - 40732
