Disneynature Studios followed up the 2009 release of the ground breaking nature film "Earth" with the 2010 movie Disneys Oceans. Both were released in the United States on Earth Day which celebrated it's fortieth year in 2010. This movie is an emotional and thrilling peek into the underwater world.
Directed by Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud, this movie makes legendary waves. A man named Romain LeGrand who has been working with Disney since 1995 produced the feature. Well known actor and environmentalist Pierce Brosnan was drafted to narrate the film. His calming voice matches the film perfectly. Two Disney Channel heartthrobs named Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, recorded a single titled "Make A Wave" for the soundtrack. This song has inspired many of the young fans to take action and be proactive when it comes to saving the environment.
Ninety percent of the world's water comes from the ocean. Nearly three fourths of the earth's surface is water. This movie goes where no other has gone before exploring deep beneath the surface of the sea. The movie is filled with never before seen images of animals, plants, and their behaviors.
It took nearly seven years from start to finish to create this movie. There were four years of location filming which resulted in over four hundred and eighty hours of recorded film. It took almost an entire year for the team to edit down the scenes. There were two full years of planning before filming even begun.
This movie is intended to answer one innocent question. What is an ocean? The answer is a complex ecosystem that has so many facets that all intertwine in a fierce yet delicate way. The directors felt there was no better way to answer this than to take the audience on a thrilling adventure underwater where they can float above a coral reef, glide through the water amongst dolphins, and sit side by side with a walrus nursing her cub.
An important aspect of the film is the damage mankind has done and continues to do each day by continuing harmful practices. An obvious practice that is detrimental to not just the water but earth and air is pollution. The population has become so dense that there is also the problem of over developed land. Another harmful practice is the greediness of over fishing in areas. Poaching is also a serious offense against humankind. It's no secret that water is one essential resource that sustains all life, and without it, the world would not exist.
Their intent was not just to show this damage but also to show the amazing way sea life can be resilient. They found several remote areas where wildlife was making a come back, showing how strong the will to survive can be. Stunning footage of survival makes it's way into the film leaving the audience touched and inspired.
Disneys Oceans is a heartfelt journey that will leave anyone who sees it breathless, touched, and inspired all at once. Stunning quality puts the viewer seemingly right in the film. It's a stunning tribute to nature and the unstoppable force that it is. It's inspirational message is sure to touch all who experience it. - 40732
